U.S. Adds Top Chinese Chip Maker to Export Blacklist

The U.S. government on Thursday said it intends to place one of China’s most advanced memory-chip manufacturers on an export blacklist, ramping up efforts to restrict Chinese technology.

Yangtze Memory Technologies Co., or YMTC,  is to be added to the Commerce Department’s entity list, which restricts companies’ ability to acquire U.S. technology and intellectual property. It is one of 36 Chinese companies being placed on the list from Friday.
