Students in two Lawrence County school districts will have more access to technology so they don't fall behind.

The $383,660 grant is part of a package of $20 million in funding to school districts in Pennsylvania under the Emergency Connectivity Fund, a temporary fund created through the American Rescue Plan.

The grant will be split between two districts with New Castle Area Schools receiving $273,880 and the Laurel School District getting $109,780.

New Castle's grant includes $219,880 for technology equipment and $54,000 for internet services.

Laurel Schools will receive $104,200 in technology equipment and $5,580 for internet services.

State Rep. Chris Sainato says the money will help bridge the digital divide by ensuring that household income doesn't stand in the way of students' connectivity.
