The Williamsport-Harrisburg Area Volkswagen Owners Club has again funded a scholarship for car restoration students at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.
This yearâs $ 2,000 check was founded in 1992 and has been donated to a scholarship fund since its inception in 2017 by an organization recognized as one of the oldest continuously operating VW clubs on the East Coast. Is the 5th time. The Harrisburg Area Community College Volkswagen Awards Ownerâs Club Scholarship Fund is intended for full-time students majoring in automotive repair with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
âSupport from HAVOC is essential to the pursuit of student certificates in car repair,â said Roy H. Klinger, co-head of collision repair technology and chief faculty member of repair. âTheir awareness of our program and the importance of guiding the future workforce in this industry through this scholarship have had a major impact on our students. Over the years, they I am honored to get to know the members of. â
Klinger was invited by club president Deb Cyrus to a clubâs fall picnic at Fort Hunter Park in Harrisburg, where he was checked and contacted by HAVOC members.
âWeâve had lots of fun events over the years, and weâre proud and honored that the success of the Volksfest show will make a difference in the charitable donations we can offer.â Cyrus said.
The first Volkswagen to bring together VW enthusiasts to showcase their cars and celebrate Volkswagenâs role in the automotive industry was held in 1993 at the then Harrisburg Autohouse. The event was moved to the Campbeltown Volunteer Fire Department site in the early 2000s and to the Pencil Banar Renaissance Fair in Mount Hope in 2013.
âPen College is very fortunate to welcome the Harrisburg Area Volkswagen Owners Club as a partner in the car repair program. With their support, students will hone their repair skills, classic car craftsmanship and detail. We can continue the tradition of respecting beauty, âsaid Chris S. McDonald, Assistant Director of Corporate Relations. âThanks to everyone who has worked to provide this scholarship.â
Students wishing to apply for either the Harrisburg Area Volkswagen Owners Club Scholarship or the hundreds of scholarships run by the Pen College Foundation must complete their online application.
