It has been 100 years since automobiles was invented, it’s un-replaceable as human being’s main transportation vehicle. However, in all these years since car enters human life, it brings human society much puzzlement or even harm. The civil income standard has improved as the country developed so many years, a big proportion of the public has the willing and the ability of buying a car as commuting vehicle. Meanwhile, since China has large population and limited land resources, it’s very hard for us to build piles of parking lots and grand roads just like the US and other developed countries did, traffic jam has already been a common phenomenon of metropolis or even cities in small sizes, jammed traffic lowers commuting efficiency and living quality in cities. Energy issue reveals with one climax following another as Mid-East countries’ political situation changes, the possibility of taking place Oil Crisis like 20th 70s and 90s exist, by the time, oil resources tends to be exhausted gradually, the reliance upon imported petroleum casts shadow on nation security. According to the static data by the Ministry of Public Security, human factors caused nearly 90% traffic accident, limited by physiology factors, judging failure, reaction out of time, emotional operation happens. As the development of Internet of Things and software engineering, there’s no technical problem automatically controlling large systems with computer systems, and the boosting of IOT make it a rather good information source. Shanghai as a city owning the nation’s largest economy and population, has been troubled for many years, so I take it as the background city in this design assignment.
This graduate project is one kind of solution to issues above, integrating IOT Sensors Information Gathering System, Computational Controlling System, Terminal Service Vehicles to be Shanghai Autopilot Transportation System (abbreviated as SATS), taking autopilot, IOT, AI as technical base, taking non-possession, service driven design as main principle, to propose a solution to traffic jam, lack of resources and energy in city commuting aspect.
