BACKGROUND
Threats of cyber crimes continue to cost Americans more money each year, most recently during the coronavirus pandemic. A 2020 report found that cyber crimes will cost the world $10.5 trillion annually by 2025. Additionally, the report notes the United States, the world’s largest economy with a nominal GDP of nearly $21.5 trillion, constitutes one-fourth of the world economy, according to data from Nasdaq.

On a larger scale, business owners can learn how to keep their digital infrastructure secure following major cyberattacks on American companies in recent years. Notably, the 2021 Russian-linked cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline network that temporarily stopped oil and gas flow throughout the Eastern United States.
