Orange said Monday that it has acquired two Swiss cybersecurity companies as it looks to strengthen its position in the field.
The two sister companies, SCRT and Telsys, are based near Lausanne and together employ around 100 people in cybersecurity and associated services, the French telecommunications major said.
Neither company is publicly listed and Orange didn't disclose the financial details of the acquisitions, which were completed last week.
Orange said the acquisitions will boost the group's cyberdefense division, which aims to reach some 1 billion euros ($1.04 billion) in revenue next year as the company looks to establish itself as a leading European cybersecurity firm. With the acquisitions of SCRT and Telsys, Orange Cyberdefense has presence in nine European countries, Orange said.
"This acquisition further increases Orange Cyberdefense's expertise in cyber threat intelligence," Orange said, noting that the business is also extending its offering in ethical hacking, a service that helps companies find and address possible weaknesses in their cyber defenses.
