Notice body

The Office of Information Technology, or OIT, and the Biggio Center are excited to announce a funding opportunity and faculty workshop, AUX: Immersive Learning Experiences. The collaborative team extends an invitation for proposals from faculty for implementing innovative technology, including augmented and virtual reality, to transform teaching and learning experiences for Auburn students.

Last year, the OIT and the Biggio Center created a new funding opportunity for improved teaching and learning at Auburn known as the "Student Learning Through Immersive Virtual Experiences". The substantial interest and participation in this grant resulted in six faculty projects receiving full funding. As a result of the remarkable success and faculty participation, OIT and the Biggio Center have continued this effort and are offering a faculty workshop along with the second round of grant opportunities.

Faculty are encouraged to identify prospects for greater engagement and enhanced learning outcomes from immersive learning experiences. Proposal submissions will be accepted through January 23rd using the Qualtrics-based application.

To facilitate questions, ideas, and information on this opportunity, OIT and Biggio Center are hosting two drop-in information sessions via Zoom. The sessions will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13th from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 21st from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Faculty (or faculty teams) are asked to submit proposals that advance multi-course or multi-disciplinary learning and teaching, create innovative learning experiences with augmented or virtual reality, equitably increase access to immersive technologies to a broad audience, create repeatable processes for content creation and deployment, or develop research to increase understanding the effectiveness of extended reality in education.

Please visit the AUX website for more information regarding the first grant recipient projects, and to submit your proposal for consideration.
