iSpeech.org

The National Security Agency (NSA) is launching its new Cybersecurity Directorate with a promise of “opening the door to partners and customers on a wide variety of cybersecurity efforts,” according to an agency statement. These partners will include established government allies in the cyber domain such as the U.S. Cyber Command, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI. The directorate also is promising to share information better with its customers to help them defend against malicious cyber activity.

The Cybersecurity Directorate is a new organization that unifies foreign intelligence and cyber defense missions, according to the NSA. Its goal is to prevent and eradicate threats to national security systems as well as the defense industrial base. The directorate will operationalize threat intelligence, vulnerability assessments and defensive cyber expertise.

The NSA states that it will build on past groups such as the Russia Small Group. The leader of the new Cybersecurity Directorate will be Anne Neuberger, titled director of cybersecurity and a former head of the Russia Small Group. The organization begins operating October 1.
