Lorain County siblings David and Cameron Payne will instruct the next generation of technology leaders – Morning Journal

Oberlin High School graduates David Payne (Class of 2017) and Cameron Payne (Class of 2018) have been hired by TECH CORPS to educate, excite and empower Lorain County students this summer, according to a news release.

“I hope to inspire high school students to pursue technology careers,” Cameron Payne said. “As technology evolves, there are many new technology careers available, and I want to help kids like me be prepared for those jobs.”

David Payne will work with grade school students in Techie Camp.

“Students have a natural curiosity, so Techie Camp will give them hands-on opportunities to tinker with and explore technology,” he said.

David and Cameron Payne are among five graduates from Lorain County high schools hired by TECH CORPS to engage students in technology education experiences this summer, according to the release.

Mar’Sean Moore is a 2021 Oberlin High graduate and Jerzy Fiske is a 2021 Lorain High School graduate, and both will be instructors, the release said.

Leah Aulisio-Sharpe, a 2018 graduate of Oberlin High, will work as a marketing intern for TECH CORPS.

Techie Camps are for elementary and middle school students and are free thanks to program sponsor Nordson Corporation Foundation, the release said.

Techie Camp topics include app development, digital animation, programming and robotics.

Student WEB CORPS is a summer earn and learn program where high school students are paid to learn to develop websites.

The program runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 21 to July 29, at Lorain County Community College.

It is a free program made possible with support from the Community Foundation of Lorain County, Nordson Corporation Foundation, the Nord Family Foundation and Ohio Means Jobs Lorain County.

“We believe it’s important to support Lorain County by hiring staff who attended Lorain County high schools,” explained TECH CORPS Northeast Ohio Regional Director Michelle Moore.
