By Peter Jeydel and Meredith Rathbone (October 29, 2021, 1:03 PM EDT) -- They have been almost a decade in the making, but have finally arrived: new U.S. export controls on cybersecurity items, including products and technology involving so-called intrusion software and internet protocol network communications surveillance.

Published on Oct. 21, but effective Jan. 19, 2022, the interim final rule from the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security amends the Export Administration Regulations to add these new cybersecurity export controls.[1]
