In the age of composable technology, Accenture helps orgs rethink their technology stack
Composable technology might be the key to helping global companies adjust their technologies and applications in a rapidly advancing and dynamic space.
Accenture PLC is doubling down on composable technology and extending the same expertise to its clients, according to Brian McKillips (pictured), managing director at Accenture
“Historically, a lot of us grew up in kind of monolithic implementations with … one software provider,” he said. “But, today, it’s really about composing technology to create new industry, new ways to solve industry problems, functional processes, customer experiences.”
McKillips spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Lisa Martin during the Coupa Inspire event, an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the larger ramifications that composable tech could have throughout the enterprise. (* Disclosure below.)
How orgs benefit from composable technology
Composable technology is a working whole comprising three distinct parts, according to McKillips. The first is a cloud foundation. Secondly, there is a digital core that includes some of the well-known industry names around business processes, including Salesforce Inc. and Oracle Corp. Finally, and most importantly, are the composable parts that can be plugged into that system.
“Think other software packages, but it’s also kind of industry IP or edge devices or IoT — think smart appliances,” McKillips explained. “And when you pull all those things together, you need to be able to not only configure it once, but configure and reconfigure as the dynamics of the marketplace change.”
The idea behind it all has been ruminating across the industry for years, but only now has the trifecta of requirements to make it possible become available — with advancements like hyperscale cloud compute abilities, edge computing and 5G.
With statistics showing that organizations that embrace composable architectures will outpace the competition in the coming year, it’s become something of a race against time. It’s not too late for companies to change their dispositions toward the paradigm, as shown by Accenture’s success through pre-integrated solutions for its clients, McKillips added.
