How Blockchain Will Save Freedom Of Speech - From Socrates’ untimely death to internet sandboxing, censorship has taken many forms throughout history and the truth is that it deprives us of knowledge and keeps us from prospering as a society. Decentralized Blockchain networks grant authority to none, regardless of their wealth or social status. It goes far beyond what you don’t get to read in the newspaper or watch on TV. News and entertainment have a great impact on our society, shaping opinions and influencing the way we experience the world on many levels.
Over time, the Internet has acted as a safe haven for those that seek to find information and those that seek to expose it. However, its centralized, yet global, structure has made it the perfect vehicle for surveillance and censorship, allowing information to be edited and even removed at will.
Blockchain technology can be seen as the tool the Internet was intended to become. Decentralized Blockchain networks grant authority to none, regardless of their wealth or social status. Instead, authority is distributed proportionally throughout participants, creating a balance of opinions and views.
Every dictator’s dream is to control the narrative and centralized financial institution are doing just that, under our nose. Self-described “Libertarian” Peter Imanuelsen (aka “Peter Sweden”) is as an independent journalist that was banned from Paypal because of his controversial political views. Whether you agree with Peter political views or not, you should be very worried that Paypal decided to starve him out of his job. And I can only wonder how many other journalists, that we don’t know of, have been censored by Paypal and other financial institution.
As usual “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
The Founding Fathers in their infinite wisdom knew how vital it was, for a successful democracy, to have freedom of speech. If we cannot talk about the problems how are we supposed to find a solution?
Thankfully for us, freedom of speech and all of its necessary consequences, will be soon guaranteed by the Blockchain.
The Blockchain is the underlying technology on which Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies operate. In short: the blockchain allows anybody to send any amount of money (value) to anybody else in minutes, without the need to ask permission to do so. No more Paypal, no more Visa, no more bank teller asking “why are you sending all this money to this dude in Sweden?”
The internet freed up the circulation of information and in just a couple of decades took down corrupt governments, corporations and sprung countless industries into life. Blockchain will allow resources to flow freely wherever society decides they need to go.
Jesus kicked the merchants out of the temple because they were corrupt and were taking advantage of people. Blockchain will wipe out centralized financial institutions because they are corrupt and censoring the truth.
