Home Depot – Largest Card Data Breach in History

The Fox Business News network interviews security expert and digital forensics investigator, Vinny Troia, CEO of Night Lion Security, on the massive Home Depot data breach. The latest report states that the breach was isolated to the self checkout lanes, but that does not make a lot of sense from a technical standpoint. Why only infect certain machines? The point of sale systems would not be so isolated that you could only access some but not the others. Potentially, there could be a different in the software used on the self checkout lanes.
Either way, Home Depot should have detected this data breach long before the 5 month point.
