for UN Climate Action Summit On July 29, Greta Thunberg announced her
plan to travel from the UK to NYC via a
60 foot racing boat called the Malizia II. She will depart in mid-August and the journey
across the Atlantic is expected to take two weeks. Thunberg announced in June that she
would be attending the UN Climate Action
Summit in New York on September 23, and the Conference of the Parties in
Santiago, Chile, on December 2-13. The 16-year-old climate activist plans to take
a year off of school in order to attend the summits. Thunberg previously expressed uncertainty
as to how she would attend the conferences,
