Engineering, technology educator named 2021 Indiana teacher of the year
An engineering and technology educator was named Indiana's teacher of the year.Sharita Ware teaches at East Tipp Middle School in Lafayette. She was one of nine finalists from across the state to receive the award.Ware spent years working in the engineering industry before bringing her knowledge to the classroom. The school's superintendent said she deserves the honor."Teachers have just gone through herculean efforts these last couple of years just rising to the challenge and navigating obstacles. So really this is an opportunity, yes to recognize Mrs. Ware, but also shine a positive spotlight on teachers right here at TSC and right here in the state of Indiana," said Scott Hanback, superintendent for Tippecanoe School Corporation.Ware will represent Indiana in the running for national teacher of the year.
