As a pre-cursor to the e-Crime Wales Summit, the e-Crime Wales team are extending an invitation to all educators, local authority staff and youth workers to attend a FREE awareness-raising session on Internet safety delivered by WISE KIDS.

The Internet is a wonderful business, social and learning resource. However changes in new technologies and social media use can present challenges for teachers, professionals and others as personal and professional boundaries get blurred easily, and as incidents of harassment, cyberbullying and identity theft rise.

Research shows that the risk of becoming a victim of an online fraud and identity theft is greater than ever. In this two hour workshop, we will cover some of these key issues. Learn how to protect your identity and personal data. Also learn what your school, local authority or youth organisation should be thinking about, to manage positive and safe use of Internet technologies. In a relaxed, supportive environment, come along and

• Learn about the latest e-Crime and Internet safety issues and how to manage these
• Get practical advice on managing and promoting safe social media use by staff and young people, as well as strategies for embedding good digital practice
• Share online experiences with other schools and youth organisations

You’ll also hear about the Cyber Security Challenge UK from Welsh based security organisation, Cassidian. The Cyber Security Challenge is a series of national online games and competitions that will test the cyber security abilities of individuals and teams from every walk of life. It is designed to excite and inspire anyone considering a career in the cyber security industry. The Challenge will identify talented individuals capable of becoming part of the UK's cyber security profession now and in the future.
