0CyberSecurity News: Baltimore Ransomware Update 2019
TTS
Earlier this month I posted a video on the Baltimore ransomware May 2019 incident that you can find at https://youtu.be/myNgNvMAjvE . In this video I will be giving you an update on the situation. I will also discuss the state of Maryland measures taken to help reduce the risk of ransomware in state government.
This video is important because it teaches you the impact of how bad ransomware can be. The damage can take months to resolve and cost thousands of dollars. It is CRITICAL that those involved in city government discuss ransomware prevention and push for funding for prevention. Every city needs to have a ransomware disaster and prevention plan. That plan should include employee cyber security training, scheduling updates at a fast pace, updating unsupported software/hardware, a 3-2-1 backup solution, and scanning and fixing known vulnerabilities in city networks.
