After two years of reduced scale, CURRENTS New Media will be back with a full-scale, citywide festival from June 17–26 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. CURRENTS Festival 2022: Circuits celebrates all the “City Different” has to offer with locations at the Center for Contemporary Art (CCA), the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds, Currents 826, form & concept, and SITE Santa Fe. The festival will bring together the work of artists from around the globe including Akiko Nakayama, Tirtza Even, Anne Spalter, Bun Stout, Reilly Donovan, Andrew Frueh, Shomit Barua, Maryam Khaleghiyazdi, Avital Meshi, Johan Källman, and many more.

Over 70 artworks will be presented as part of the multi-venue festival. CURRENTS will exhibit a vast variety of work from interactive installations and sound performance to video projections, robotics, and augmented reality. Visitors to CCA will experience an immersive world of art and tech both inside the beautiful Tank Garage gallery and outside, with several open-air installations. CURRENTS will also make use of CCA’s theaters, with four daily video programs and nightly performances. At the Fairgrounds, visitors will experience creative and engaging art for the whole family. The neighboring Rodeo de Santa Fe will coincide with the second half of the festival, running from June 22–25. All required COVID-19 precautions will be in place at each location.

CURRENTS is an initiative of Parallel Studios, a nonprofit founded by Frank Ragano and Mariannah Amster. As curators, they have shown artworks at the intersection of art and technology by artists based regionally, nationally, and abroad for twenty years. The result is a diverse, dynamic, and captivating exhibition that attracts a wide range of both local and visiting audiences.
