0Bethel Park School District officials hire new technology director, promote two other administrators
Bethel Park School District officials recently hired a new administrator and promoted two others from within the district.
Bret Slezak was named the new director of technology. David Muench was named the new director of student support services and district assistant director of special education Sarah Shue was moved up to supervisor of special education.
The personnel moves were unanimously approved at a Sept. 28 board meeting.

We look forward to locking arms with them as we pursue our vision to be best in class in all areas.ā
Slezak
Slezak comes to Bethel Park from Allegheny Valley School District where he served as its heath and physical education teacher for grades 7-12 before becoming its technology integrator.
He also taught middle and high school students to prototype wearable technology and build robots in health and physical education classes.
Slezak has a masterās degree in exercise physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and was named Technology Administrator of the Year in 2020 at the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference.
He replaces former Bethel Park technology director Ron Reyer, who left the district in September to take a job in the private sector. Slezakās salary is $100,000.
Muench
Muench has been with the district since 1999. He previously served as dean of students and assistant principal at the high school. He was Independence Middle School principal for 15 years.
Muench has a bachelor of science degree in education from Slippery Rock University and a masterās degree in school leadership from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently enrolled in a California University of Pennsylvania doctoral program.
Meunch replaces retired special education director Lori Sutton with the newly created position. His salary is $118,000.
Shue
Shue has been with the district since 2018, where she has served as the assistant director of special education with a focus on supporting the elementary schools.
She worked as a special education teacher in the Canon McMillan School District before coming to Bethel Park.
She has a masterās degree in elementary and special education from Chatham University and a doctorate of education from the University of Pittsburgh. Her salary is $100,000.
