The Bayonne Public Library will offer in-person Tech Classes throughout the month of July, in conjunction with its Adult Services Librarian.

“Want to learn how to use Amazon, but never knew who to ask? Need to brush up on your iPhone skills? Want to learn how to set up and use streaming TV and movie services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, or HBO Max? Need assistance figuring out Zoom? The Bayonne Public Library can help,” according to the city.

Each Thursday in July, the library will be offering a Tech Thursday class with its Adult Services Librarian, Bill Fischer. The following classes will be offered in July 2022: July 7 – Amazon; July 14 – iPhone; July 21 – Zoom; July 28 – Streaming TV and Movies.

The Amazon class will be a brief introduction to some of Amazon’s services. Students will learn how to create an Amazon account, how to search for items, how to purchase them, and much more. There are no prerequisites for this class.

In the iPhone class, students will learn how to use an iPhone. They will learn about calling and texting. They will also learn about apps and how to add them. To get the most out of this class, students should have an iPhone.

As part of the Zoom class, students will learn how to set up a Zoom account, how to join a meeting, and how to start a meeting. Zoom can be used on computers as well as on mobile devices. Each student will participate in a Zoom meeting. An email account that can be accessed during class is the only prerequisite.

And lastly, as part of the Steaming TV and Movies class, students will learn about several of the online streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and HBOMax. They will learn to subscribe and how to navigate the menu. They will learn about streaming devices such as the Amazon Fire Stick or the Roku. Setting up a smart television will be briefly discussed.

The classes will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 in the basement of the library. The Bayonne Public Library is located at 697 Avenue C.

Residents are invited to attend one or all of the library’s Tech Thursdays classes. Advanced registration is preferred, but walk-ins will be accommodated, if possible. Register for the classes at: tinyurl.com/TTwithBillJuly22.
