Many B-Town celebrities have fallen prey to cyber crimes. After Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor and Adnan Sami, Amrita Rao's Twitter account is the latest to be hacked and that too because of a link that reached her from a well-known media house, said the actress.

In an interview with the Times of India, the actress revealed the details of her account getting hacked and also opened up on why it took her a week to report the incident.

"Saat din pehle mera Twitter account hack hua tha aur meri social media team bhi hai jo technical aspect ko dekhti hai. Mere DM mein mujhe ek well-known media house se message aaya, saying that they want me to approve an article that they want to print about me (Seven days ago, my Twitter account was hacked. I have my social media team, which looks at the technical aspects. I got a DM [direct message] from a well-known media house, saying that they wanted to print an article about me and they want my approval for the same)," Amrita Rao said in the video.

"So it looked very authentic. Meri team ne us link ko click kiya, toh wahan se ye hacking ka silsila shuru hua (The link looked authentic, so my team clicked on it and that is how it all started)," she added.

"Phir mujhe yaad aaya, recently Mr [Amitabh] Bachchan ka bhi account hack hua tha aur ye kaafi menace sa ho gaya hai industry mein (Then I recalled that Amitabh Bachchan's account was also hacked. This has now become menace in our industry)," the Vivah actress added.

"6 mahine pehle hi mujhe mere co-star Tusshar Kapoor ke account se ek aisa hi DM aaya tha, which asked me to click on a link. Luckily, I messaged Tusshar immediately and he told me that his Twitter account was hacked (Six months ago, I got a similar kind of DM from my co-star Tusshar Kapoor's Twitter account. The message asked me to click on a link. Luckily, I had messaged Tusshar immediately and he told me that his account was hacked)," Amrita, who has shared screen space with Tusshar in Love U Mr Kalakaar, said in the interview.

"So this is a little scary and a lot of people in Bollywood are being targeted - this social media accounts getting hacked (sic)," the 38-year-old actress added.

Her social media team will now report the activity to Twitter officials and if needed, Amrita will also reach out to the cyber crime cell.

"I get messages every day that there is some suspicious activity on my account, but I can't log in. We waited to reach out to Twitter officials because I wasn't well. It also took us a little bit of time to realise that this is a serious problem," she said.

Before her, Amitabh Bachchan's Twitter account was also hacked. The hackers had replaced Amitabh's display picture with that of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and had modified the bio with "Actor ... well at least some are STILL saying so !! Love Pakistan."
