Accused to be booked under NSA, Gangster Act | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: In a major decision, the state government announced on Wednesday that it would slap the Gangster Act and "depending upon the condition" even the National Security Act on persons found involved in the storage and transportation of illicit liquor or hooch.
Making the announcement, principal secretary, excise, Sanjay Bhoosreddy said divisional commissioners and district magistrates have been directed to impose the Excise Act of 1910 and also Indian Penal Code Sections 272, 273 and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and NSA, if needed, on the accused.
Bhoosreddy said that cases pertaining to death or disability caused by consumption of illicit liquor would be vigorously pursued in the courts so that the accused get punished. In case of repeated offenders, the state government would slap the Gangster Act and even the NSA, he added.
The principal secretary has asked officials to get the culprits prosecuted through senior prosecution officers and government appointed lawyers in the special courts.
He has also directed officials to expedite the process of constituting special court in districts where they have not been set up yet.
