Zero Day Initiative – Brian Gorenc

Text to Speech Voices

Brian Gorenc will give a short introduction about the Zero Day Initiative ( ZDI ) that was founded in 2005. ZDI is an bug bounty program where Trend Micro has awarded more than $15 million USD to participants that have been able to highlight flaws in widely used and popular software. Resulting in nearly 4,500 0-day exploits that have been patched by vendors, all of which makes the computing landscape a safer space. Bug bounty programs were considered to be a rare commodity. Now they are seen as an indispensable means for companies to acquire bug reports. The program also provided the data needed to protect Trend Micro customers while the affected vendor is working on a patch. Bug reports that come through the program disrupt the exploit market and force bad actors to change their techniques. It goes beyond merely buying bug reports to true superiority in terms of vulnerability and exploit intelligence.
