WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (April 2, 2022)  – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team dropped just 17 points in defeating King's College 9-0 Saturday in a MAC Freedom match at Kirby Park.

Senior Agatha Malinowski posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at line one singles and paired with junior Audrey Heaberlin to claim an 8-2 win at first doubles for the Ducks, who improved to 3-4 on the year and to 1-0 in league play. Stevens has won its last three league openers.

The Monarchs totaled six points in doubles and 11 in singles in falling to 0-9 on the year and to 0-1 in MAC Freedom matches. King's has dropped both all-time meetings to the Ducks.

"Nice to get conference play started today with a victory," head coach Arik Zeevy said. "We need to continue working hard on the practice court next week and focus on getting better every day."

Following Malinowski and Heaberlin's victory at first doubles, first-year Isabella Dona and senior Alexis Fuda posted an 8-2 win in the second line. Sophomore Polina Odintseva and junior Juliette Marchisio completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win in the third slot. All three matches were won with identical scores. The doubles victory was the fourth of the year for the team of Malinowski and Heaberlin, while Odintseva and Marchisio remained undefeated in moving to 3-0.

The Ducks continued their strong play with straight-set victories in all six singles matches. Heaberlin (6-1, 6-1), Fuda (6-1, 6-0), Dona (6-3, 6-0), Marchisio (6-2, 6-1) and first-year Emma Eguia (6-1, 6-1) all posted impressive wins, with Malinowski's straight-set win in at first singles moving the Kinnelon, New Jersey native to eight wins on the year.

Up Next: Women's Tennis hosts FDU-Florham on April 6 on the Stevens Courts. The contest marks the Ducks' Pride Week game. The Ducks have won the last six meetings between the programs.
