Women’s Tennis competes at St. Lawrence Invitational

CANTON, NY - The RIT women's tennis team had a good showing at the 2022 St. Lawrence University Invitational over the weekend. The team of graduate student Kirsten Auble and senior Jackie Drozd placed fourth in the "A" Flight.

The Invitational was played using Billie Jean King Cup scoring where duos play a doubles match, and two singles matches with the best-of-three advancing in the bracket.

Auble and Drozd defeated the team of Caitlyn Avery and Maya Stepic (St. Lawrence), 8-6 in their opening doubles round. In singles, Avery defeated Auble, 8-4, but the Tigers advanced with Drozd's 8-6 win over Stepic. In the third-place match, Auble and Drozd lost 8-7 in doubles to Union's Gabby Gatto and Kennedy Alexis. Drozd won her singles match, defeating Alex, 8-2, but Gatto beat Auble, 8-3 to take third.

RIT is scheduled to return to action on Friday (Sept. 23) at the ITA Northeast Championship hosted by Hamilton College.
