Women’s Tennis Advances to MAC Freedom Championship

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (May 3, 2022) – The No. 1 seed Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team defeated No. 4 DeSales in a MAC Freedom semi-final at home, Tuesday, May 3. The Ducks defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 5-0 at Braddock Park in North Bergen, New Jersey.
 
Stevens swept all three doubles matches and the first two singles matches to secure the five matches needed to advance to the MAC Freedom Championship. With the win, the Ducks improved to 10-4 on the season and DeSales fell to 9-5.
 
Senior Agatha Malinowski and junior Audrey Heaberlin took the first match of the day by a score of 8-1. First-year Isabella Dona and senior Alexis Fuda (8-2) and sophomore Polina Odintseva paired with junior Juliette Marchisio (8-3) won at second and third, respectively.
 
At singles, first-year Emma Eguia won 6-1, 6-1 from the sixth position and Odintseva took the clinching match by a score of 6-2, 6-3 at fourth singles.
 
Up Next: The Ducks will host Wilkes in the MAC Freedom Championship on Saturday, May 7. The match will be played at Braddock Park in North Bergen, New Jersey.
