A WIRRAL firm making health service equipment has invested in technolgy designed to transform its sales process as part of productivity and growth plans.

Parity Medical designs mobile wireless computer carts and specialist clinical computing devices for the NHS and private healthcare sector.

It has invested in software which will enable sales staff and customers to meet in an online virtual showroom.

It believes the equipment could reduce travel by 30,000 miles, cut carbon emissions by 11 tonnes per year and speed up the initial sales demonstration process from two days to an hour.

Steve Wood, managing director, said: "The technology will transform our sales process, removing delays and errors, allowing us to get it right the first time – which will make us significantly more efficient.

"This will increase productivity and accelerate the business’s growth.

"The reduced travel translates into lower carbon emissions at a time when sustainability is increasingly important to the industry.

"As a business we have been on a digital journey for a number of years. There has been a fair amount of trial and error.

"Made Smarter helped us prioritise our needs, focus on the right solution and set us in the right direction.”

Parity Medical is one of 84 businesses that have received funding through the Made Smarter North West Industry 4.0 adoption pilot.

Donna Edwards, programme director for the Made Smarter North West, said: "Data and analytics are central to the 4th Industrial Revolution, so I am extremely pleased that Parity Medical and so many SME manufacturers are putting data at the heart of their own digitalisation journeys.

"Capturing the data from across their processes and bringing it all together in one place is a vital first step for many manufacturers looking to solve problems and recognise opportunities.

"The next step, one which some forward-thinking SMEs are already taking, is to analyse the data using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

"It is encouraging that so many of this region's makers are recognising that using these tools can empower them to grow their business and increase efficiency."
