Examples of metal and glass window treatments from Bar Hill fort. Four fragments of a bluish-green glass window pane 0.4 cm thick. Shown along with the remains of a metal window grille, comprised of flat iron strips forming a 50cm by 50 cm square with cross shaped pieces (croisillons) riveted at the junctions. This type of metal window would offer additional security and probably protected a window within the Headquarters building (principia). Although both glass and metal are shown together in this model, it is more likely that they formed part of separate windows.
