BENGALURU: The chief commissioner of BBMP promised the high court that he will ensure a proper work plan is prepared on filling/repairing potholes in the central business district by adopting proper technology and making maximum use of automatic pothole-filling machines used earlier.
Gaurav Gupta, who was present in court in relation to another case (PILs on garbage), sought one week’s time to submit the fresh plan.
Adivision bench headed by chief justice Ritu Raj Awasthi adjourned the hearing to March 15. Earlier, the bench asked BBMP why proper technology is not being used to fill potholes and why use of the machines is restricted. Counsel for BBMP submitted there is only one machine (python) available in Bengaluru, and only two in the entire country.
But the bench said it doesn’t want the stalemate to continue and asked the BBMP chief commissioner to make use of the latest technology. The court is hearing a PIL filed in 2015 by Vijayan Menon and others.
