Why You Should Contact a Commercial Glass Installation Expert

Text to Speech

Some homes and businesses can go for years and years without needing any sort of window replacement, and the homeowners or business owners who reside in these properties will never need to get in contact with a commercial glass installation expert. But there are actually more reasons than a broken window to consider having a window replacement done, and some of these could actually help to save you money, even when you take into account the cost of materials and installation!

The most obvious reason to need to contact a commercial glass installation expert is if one of your windows is broken in an accident. Windows can easily be damaged by children with footballs, or by criminals and vandals, or by something like a bird or a bat becoming disorientated and flying into them. If the window is broken in these circumstances, it is highly likely that you will be able to claim back the cost of the window replacement on your home insurance if you so wish, although many people choose not to make a claim if only one window is broken, because they do not want to risk increasing the cost of their insurance premiums.

If you do live in an area where crime and vandalism levels are high, or if your children frequently accidentally damage your windows, you may also choose to replace some of your glass windows with special tempered security glass, which is stronger and more durable than regular glass. Although you can have security glass installed into your regular window frames, without altering the frames, it may be worth considering having the frames changed as well, to improve the security levels of the frames. Although it will be more expensive if you have to change the frames as well as the glass, there is no point having strengthened security glass put into rotten, old frames, because anyone with criminal intent will simply attack the frames, rather than the glass. Having security windows installed can help to reduce your home and contents insurance costs.

Another reason you should consider contacting a commercial glass installation expert is if your heating costs are particularly high in winter. If it seems like your rooms take a lot of energy to heat and if they do not stay warm for very long once the heating is switched off, it may be because the glass in your windows is letting the heat escape from the room very easily. Single glazed windows are not good insulators of heat, and will therefore transfer heat very easily from your warm room to the cold outside. Heat loss will continue until equilibrium is reached and the room is the same temperature as the outside. Having double glazed windows installed can lessen the amount of heat lost through this type of heat transfer and will therefore help to lower the cost of your heating bills. It can be far more economical to replace inefficient windows than to continue with them and the high heating bills they bring about.
