We can do more to bring technology companies to list on the London market | Business

As a high-growth technology business, a question OakNorth is often asked is: “Where would we list if we were to go public?” While we have no plans at present to list, the location is something I’ve discussed with numerous tech chief executives and co-founders.

London is having a tough time convincing technology companies to list here, as shown most recently by the Cambridge-based Arm Holdings. The main challenges we’ve identified are that while Britain offers lower costs and lower securities litigation, as well as more certain price discovery, the American market has much more depth and liquidity and, crucially, the growth investors that the UK is lacking. In fact, Britain has been able to generate only a few true growth investors, including asset managers
