The Washington Post's mobile site was reportedly victim to an apparent cyber attack Thursday by a group claiming allegiance to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

According to multiple outlets, The Post's mobile site was briefly taken over Thursday afternoon by a group that claims to be the "Syrian Electronic Army," or SEA. The breach did not to appear to affect the outlet's desktop website — just its mobile version.

Those who visited The Post's mobile site Thursday afternoon saw multiple messages.

A Politico reporter says two messages read: "You've been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army!" and "US govt is training the terrorists to kill more Syrians." The hackers also reportedly blamed Saudi Arabia for killing Yemenis and attacked the media.

The SEA has reportedly claimed responsibility for a number of previous cyberattacks on Western and European media outlets. The Hill says those attacks include "[The Washington Post], Reuters, CNBC, NPR, Forbes, The New York Times ... [and] the Daily Telegraph."
