It’s heating up in the Smart TV industry with several smartphone makers jumping in with new models at affordable prices. Xiaomi led and dominated it while Realme and OnePlus are following with cheaper Android TVs. Vu, also a big name in this space, has come up with another range of affordable Smart TVs and to fend for itself against all the emerging brands, it’s going all 4K across the range.

Vu is calling its the Ultra 4K Tvs and the range includes models across various sizes. Vu is bringing the new TVs in 43-inches, 50-inches, 55-inches and 65-inches. Prices start at Rs 25,999 for the smaller model while the biggest 65-inch model costs Rs 48,999. The entire range is priced competitively against Xiaomi’s Mi TV 4 series and the upcoming OnePlus affordable smart TVs.

As the name suggests, the entire focus of this range is on 4K panels and Vu is claiming some mega additions to make the viewing experience better. The display is said to offer brightness levels enhanced by 40 per cent and the white balance is also claimed to be better. Vu has baked in a Pro Picture Calibration mode that allows viewers to control the colour temperatures, dynamic range and gamma correction.

The panel itself is frameless and Vu says that there are no plastic or metal bezels around the edges. The panel also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 colour profiles.

As for the software part, the TVs are running on Google Certified Android TV 9 Pie OS. This means these TVs automatically get support for the Google Play Store that brings access to 5000 apps for the TV platform. There’s Google Assistant on board and some of the other Google Suite apps pre-loaded. Chromecast is also built-in like all other Android TVs. Vu is launching these TV with Android 9 Pie, with no hint about the next OS upgrade.

The remote controller for these TVs also come with a minimalist button layout without skipping on essential keys. As part of the smart features, there are dedicated buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Hotstar and Google Play. The controller can also take voice commands.

For the audio part, Vu is using stereo speakers with a total output rating of 30W. There’s support for Dolby Audio format and DTS Surround Sound in these TVs.

Vu also gives in some additional features such as a Cricket Mode and Parental controls over the regular Android TV features.
