The Vermont Catamounts defeated the visiting Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers 5-2 on Saturday.
The Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers players took the lead in the first period, with a goal scored by Jaymee Nolan. Lexi Sung and Hana Solinger assisted.
Theresa Schafzahl scored within the first minute of the second period, assisted by Corinne McCool.
Corinne McCool then tallied a goal late, making the score 2-1. Theresa Schafzahl and Natalie Mlynkova assisted.
The Vermont Catamounts players then claimed three straight goals in the third period as the team increased their lead from 2-1 to 5-1 in just 3:24.
Kyla Bear narrowed the gap somewhat, but the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers players didn't come any closer than 5-2. The Vermont Catamounts took a solid victory.
