U.S. NIST Seeks Public Input on Consumer Software Labelling for Cybersecurity – OpenGov Asia
Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Laksana Tri Handoko remarked that Indonesia already has a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2020-2045, which is a milestone for AI application in Indonesia. In the future, this is projected to have a positive impact on the Indonesian economy. The National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, according to Laksana, is an endeavour by the Indonesian government to improve the usage of cutting-edge technology, particularly AI. These activities are aimed at increasing efficiency and effectiveness across a variety of industries. BRIN also promotes AI mastery for use in a variety of strategic areas.
This month, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) will showcase the latest developments and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia through the Research Organisation for the Assessment and Application of Technology (OR PPT) and the collaboration of Artificial Intelligence Research and Innovation (KORIKA).
AI technology will be used to support strategic sectors such as agriculture, energy efficiency, cybersecurity and creative industries.

President Joko Widodo has claimed on multiple occasions that “whoever controls AI would rule the world,” according to Hammam Riza, chairman of KORIKA. Hence, many governments are striving to establish and publish a national strategy for artificial intelligence development.
The National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence’s principal goal is to transition from a government-driven to a demand-driven axis through partnership. The Artificial Intelligence Innovation Centre (PIKA), which eventually gave rise to KORIKA, was founded because of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. Hammam added that his party sought to establish KORIKA, a flexible and trustworthy institution capable of forming a collaborative ecosystem to speed the use of artificial intelligence toward Indonesia’s 2045 vision.
KORIKA is an orchestrator organisation in the form of an association that promotes the formation of an environment that fosters artificial intelligence innovation. The goal is to establish and strengthen an Indonesian economy that is in step with global trends, such as the digital, green, and blue economies.
The Founder of KORIKA, Bambang PS Brodjonegoro went on to say, “soon our lives will move towards Society 5.0 where artificial intelligence is an important part. Mastery of artificial intelligence in various fields is very important for Indonesia. Currently, we are starting to understand the use of AI in various fields and there have been many children of the nation who have given birth to AI-based innovations. We hope that these innovations can later be used in the business world so that they can compete in national and global markets.”
OpenGov Asia reported that the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim has called for the simultaneous development of artificial intelligence and character intelligence on the part of its users and creators. The minister emphasised that artificial intelligence has been in development for at least two decades and is now a part of people’s daily lives in the country.
Administrative duties, which are typically a burden for lecturers during the accreditation application process, can now be facilitated using technology. Education will also become more personal as students will be able to develop themselves based on their interests and skills. Makarim encouraged students to develop not only their general intelligence but also their character to face future challenges.
“The development of science and the global situation will accelerate the application of AI in various fields and will have a massive impact on the world of work in the future. This will be unavoidable, and we cannot stop it,” he noted.
The minister was confident that AI will help in the future in addressing a variety of issues, including those faced by educational institutions such as universities. According to him, AI will assist the university in accelerating the quality of its institution and education, which is in line with the purpose of Freedom Study – Freedom Campus.
