Today’s technology with tomorrow’s vision

Text to Speech Voices

Amr Raafat, Vice President of VDC and technology, Windover Construction

Companies in the AEC sector are eager to learn more about technology and it into their work.

Any technology, be it drone, mapping, laser scanning or virtual reality, is powerful. But when combined, these become much more powerful. We use today’s technology with tomorrow’s vision, which enables us to explore new methods to become more efficient and help our industry advance. The construction sector is evolving — companies are eager to learn more about technology and embed it into their work.

BIM is now becoming an industry standard and is required by many clients to ensure risk mitigation and high quality. We have been committed to applying leading-edge technology such as VR/AR, laser scanning and drone mapping in every phase and aspect of the project. We believe that this can make our deliveries efficient, timely and safe.

Leveraging latest technology

As we continue to build different types of buildings, including more modular structures, we see a great opportunity to leverage the latest technologies available in the market. We can evaluate these technologies, sometimes even develop them further to incorporate them into our construction operations. At Windover, technology applications such as 4D construction sequence planning are more than a tool; it’s a process that is embedded in our daily operations to support both field and office operations by better execution and communication.

When it comes to BIM/VDC hiring, we are always looking for passionate, bright candidates who love what they do, want to work with leading-edge technologies and are eager to learn new thing every day. We want our teams to be energetic and dedicated, and quickly leverage the most useful applications to help build better and support the project team.

Powerful combination

Geospatial and BIM can be a powerful combination, which can help in offering real-time solutions to challenges in construction projects. For instance, laser scanning and drone mapping at the beginning for early surveying and high-resolution data capture of site topography; constant scanning during construction for quality assurance and quality control through regular overlays between drawings and as-built models to detect conflicts in real time and address them on site; scanning at the end of the project during close-out to document as-builts of MEPs and behind walls and ceilings in web-based, easy to access links to support future facility maintenance and management.
Solutions must come from real-time communication between BIM/VDC team and onsite construction field experts by listening to the changes, learning more about its dimensions, collecting data and responding by combining the applicable broad array of BIM technology offerings for real-time solutions to every unique challenge.

Innovative solution

4D BIM construction sequence helps communicate with client, trade partners, designers and construction team on how the project evolves through different phases. There are combinations of laser scans and drone mapping using control ground points for highly accurate representation of sites meshed with overlays with design models in 3D, as well as autonomous laser scanning and walls/utilities layouts.
