Based on the film of the same name premiered in 1994, The Mask's main character is Stanley Ipkiss, a frustrated bank teller who accidentally comes upon a mask that grants him bizarre powers.

In the game, the players goes through several locations from the movie, like Ipkiss' apartment building, Edge City Bank, park, prision, and even the night club Coco Bongo, while facing generic enemies and familiar characters like Mrs. Peenman, Stanley's cranky neighbor.

The gameplay includes several fun elements taken directly from the movie, like a giant mallet and a incredibly tiny and weirdly loud and destructive horn.

The Mask wasn't a commercially successful game in great part due to its difficulty spikes, making the game incredibly difficult to finish, even on Easy. Despite having only seven levels, due to its difficulty, the lack of a password save system becomes a glaring problem, requiring the player to finish the entire game in a single sitting.
