Thailand Government advises 3.3m people of online gambling data crack

Online gamblers of Thailand are being warned that their private data may have been breached after transacting with gambling operators who have international license.

On Wednesday, the state-run Thailand Computer Security Coordination Center (ThaiCERT) issued a strict notification that about 3.3m Thai citizens’ private information had been exposed in “foreign database systems which overlap with gambling websites.”

The Security Center ThaiCERT appealed to have scrutinized a ‘leaked’ database that contained personal data belonging to approximately 41m individuals, out of which 3.3m were Thai citizens. The data in question includes birth dates, names, phone numbers, government identification numbers, and banking information.

While ThaiCERT says it’s directing a reply with the state’s Electronic Transactions Development Agency. The company also needs Thai residents to be suitably wary of any individuals that might communicate them by phone, e-mail or social media.

Central bank of Thailand joined in by signifying that Thais people who have used gambling sites change their online banking or credit card passwords, but for surety they should cancel their current debit/credit cards and request substitutes.

Population of Thailand is currently just under 70million, which would mean around 4.6% of the country’s people – and larger of its grown-up population – have opened online gambling accounts. ThaiCERT didn’t mention whether the 3.3m cases of Thais’ personal information comprised identical entries, i.e. if certain Thai people had opened online accounts with several gambling operators.

Thailand’s government endures no gambling within its premises, with the exception of the state-run lottery, which is observed as so tedious that so-called ‘underground lotteries’ are way more famous with local residents. There is also a system of land-based casinos across the border in Cambodia that counts on Thailand gamblers to keep their operations whining.

The ruling classes of Thailand rarely publicize busts of unauthorized online gambling operations, together with those that utilize so-called ‘net pretties’ also known as social media hotties who promote international gambling sites by writing URLs on their breasts.
