Tesla Technology Helps Repossess Their Own Cars

“Technology is amazing.” That’s the ending takeaway of a facebook post from a Tesla owner’s group. However, this specific post isn’t about the heroics of electric engines or being free of ever escalating gas prices. The technology that inspired this reverential tone was… Tesla assisting with the repossession of one of their own vehicles.

The poster says “the whole process was pretty cool.” Sure, if you’re an absolute massive snitch. The Tesla in question was located through GPS, relayed to the repo man, and then even remotely honked, all in order for him to easily find and put a boot on the vehicle.

It’s figuratively great that a boot, even of the car variety, is involved in this story, because when you find yourself rooting for the REPO MAN, that is bootlicking of the absolute highest order. It’s like cheering for the cops while they arrest a graffiti writer, except minus every possible exciting part of that interaction.

To find yourself rooting for the repossession of the vehicle is basically hooting and hollering for a bank. Why not paint yourself blue and stand outside your local chase in support? This is an extremely dark and villainous choice of fandom, up there with becoming a Patriots fan in the heat of the Brady/Belichick Dynasty.

So, if you’re the owner of a Tesla, keep your auto payments at the forefront of your mind, because it turns out that as soon as you are a persona non grata in the Tesla world, every doodad and doohickey on your fancy robot car will be put quickly to work in direct service of taking that very car away from you.
