SPRINGFIELD — The city’s public schools announced a temporary suspension of online instruction Thursday after potential cyber-attack threats to the district’s informational technology systems were detected.
Classes for the remainder of Thursday were canceled around 11 a.m. All remote classes were canceled, and staff at the school building were sent home. It is not clear when classes will resume. The announcement from the city says it hopes to resume classes “in the near future,” but does not specify when.
The announcement was made by School Superintendent Daniel Warwick and Mayor Domenic Sarno.
According to the announcement, the schools discovered a potential threat to the information technology network. The cancellation was made out of “an abundance of caution.”
