The National Union of Students brings another video about burglary against students hoping to encourage students to think like burglars: notice the key signs burglars look for when targeting students; always lock doors and windows; and do simple things to reduce the chances of becoming victims of burglary.
Some of the simple things students can do include:
- Marking/tagging belongings (registering at immobilise.com)
- Obtaining computer laptop software (like LoJack)
- Insuring their belongings
- Making sure the landlord has good lighting and has provided good security for tenants to use (such as locks on back gates, good fences, well-kept gardens)
- Looking out for each other
- Putting valuables out of sight
