Personnel needed for high-technology research project on Griffiss Business and Technology Park

ROME — Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, which is conducting research at Griffiss Business & Technology Park, has announced that it needs hundreds of personnel to act as basic role-players (actors) for one day between Tuesday, Sept, 20, and Tuesday, Sept,. 27.

The pay is $180 for the day, according to the announcement.

Participation involves performing activities and following directions from research staff while still and video image data are captured from several locations. Basically, walking around designated areas, in certain patterns, and making certain types of movements, the announcement said, otherwise, it added, there are no other physical requirements.

Participants will also have a lot of downtime throughout the day to sit and relax in between collection sessions. People should wear casual attire but bring a second set of clothing to potentially assist with more data collection efforts, thus providing the computer cameras more diverse view. The intent of the project is to teach computer systems how to recognize certain types of body language and movements.

Each group of personnel will be needed onsite for only one day, between Sept. 20-27 with Monday, Sept. 26, and Tuesday, Sept. 27, as contingency days in case one of the days between Sept. 20-25 gets canceled due to weather.





Personnel will be needed from between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Personnel will be paid $180 for their participation, paid by a corporate check, at the completion of each day, the announcement said.

Personnel requirements:

  • Ages 18-65;
  • English-speaking;
  • Able to follow general directions;
  • Able to move around with ease/no major physical limitations; and
  • Has reliable transportation to/from Rome Airport on event days.
