Peraton awarded $360M ICBM software check contract

The Air Force has awarded an 18-year, $360.4 million contract to Peraton for help in analyzing and addressing safety risks of software used to operate intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Peraton received the contract via a sole-source acquisition and work will take place through March 2039, the Defense Department said in its Friday awards digest.

Work will support the Nuclear Safety Cross-Check Analysis and Nuclear Safety Analysis and Technical Evaluation programs, both of which involve software evaluation processes performed by a verification organization independent of the ICBM’s developers.

Those processes aim to ensure that software complies with established nuclear safety design criteria and does not perform unintended functions or actions.
