Pamela Carr named SAU 16 Seacoast School of Technology principal

EXETER — The Exeter Region Cooperative School Board voted unanimously Tuesday to hire Pamela Carr, of Portsmouth, as the new principal of Seacoast School of Technology

A seasoned educator bringing 27 years of experience in public education and former SST assistant principal, Carr will begin her duties on July 1.

"We are very excited to have Dr. Carr return to SST and build upon the wonderful work that has taken place over the past few years," said SAU 16 Superintendent David Ryan. "Her passion for career and technical education programming, ambition to build industry partnerships, and commitment to shaping futures with students is a wonderful recipe for CTE success. We look forward to supporting her and all members of the SST community as they move forward with this work together."

Column:A student’s perspective- Life at Exeter High School

Currently serving as an assistant principal at Exeter High School – a position she has held since 2020 – Carr supervises the English, music and business departments and oversees approximately 370 students in grades 10 through 12. 

Prior to her role at Exeter High School, Carr spent four years as the assistant principal at SST where she was able to expand on her leadership experience with Career and Technical Education (CTE). She has 22 years of classroom experience teaching business and computer science throughout the state at Oyster River High School in Durham, Hampton Academy Junior High School, Newmarket High School and Merrimack High School.





Her most recent accomplishment was the successful defense of her doctoral dissertation titled, “An Investigation into the Barriers to Enrollment in New Hampshire Secondary Career and Technical Education.”

“I have such a passion for Career and Technical Education, and I am very excited for the opportunity to work with the amazing staff at SST,” said Carr. “The Seacoast School of Technology feels like home to me, and I am grateful and excited to serve as the next principal.”

Carr earned a doctor of education in education, learning, leadership and community from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, certificate of advanced graduate study in advanced education leadership from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine and both a master and bachelor of science degree from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. Carr resides in Portsmouth with her partner Seth, daughter Meaghan, and dog Dexter.

Seacoast School of Technology serves students from Epping, Exeter, Newmarket, Raymond, Sanborn and Winnacunnet. It offers selective coursework preparing students for their lives after high school. Programs allow students to earn college credit and industry-recognized certifications while fulfilling their high school graduation requirements.
