OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro get Android 10 open beta update: What is new, how to install

Google officially announces Android 10 on Tuesday. As traditions goes the Android 10 software comes to Pixel phones first followed by some more partner devices. Previously Google announced the names of the smartphones from other manufacturers that are eligible to get Android 10 update. OnePlus 7 series is one of them.

OnePlus has been working rigorously with Google to bring the latest software and Android updates to the users with the aim to deliver a seamless experience. With the same aim in mind, OnePlus becomes one of the first smartphone manufacturers to bring Android 10 open beta update to its latest OnePlus 7 series. The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro get Android 10 open beta update on Tuesday.

"We are very excited to announce that we are ready to roll out the very first Open Beta build based on Android 10 for the OnePlus 7 Series," OnePlus noted in its official Oxygen OS Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro blog post. With Android 10 coming onboard OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro users will get hands-on to some of the key features of Android 10 like live caption, smart reply, new gesture navigation, dark theme, among others.

What comes to OnePlus 7 series with Android 10

--New UI design

--Enhanced location permissions for privacy

-- New customization feature

--Bottom navigation bar added to allow switching left or right for recent apps

-- Inward swipes from the left or right edge of the screen to go back

-- New Game Space feature

-- Supported intelligent info based on specific times, locations and events for Ambient Display

-- Block spam by keywords for Message

--The update also fixes application compatibility issues





How to install Android 10 open beta update on OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro

Before installing the next Android version users must ensure that their phone's battery is above 30 per cent and the device has minimum 3GB of available storage space. Additionally, the user must ensure to backup all data before installing the update.

Stable/ Developer version to Open Beta Version

--Users will first need to download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.

--Click here to download zip pack for OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

--Users will then need to copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.

--Then go to Settings -- System -- System Updates -- Click top-right icon -- Local upgrade -- Click on the corresponding installation package -- upgrade -- System upgrade completed to 100 per cent.

--Click Restart.

--Phone will boot into recovery mode to format user data

It's done.

Notably, the Android 10 beta update may have some bugs and issue that will be fixed in the stable build. "Please keep in mind that this is beta software. These builds are not as stable as our official OTAs. By installing this update, you accept the potential risks," OnePlus notes in the blog post. We expect the Android 10 stable build will come to OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro very soon.
