Ohio first state to introduce mapping tool technology to connect kids in foster care to families
Ohio is the first state across the nation to implement a family mapping tool technology to connect children in foster care with their forever families.The two technology tools are from Connect Our Kids and will help children services professionals connect Ohio's 3,100 children in foster care with families.The Family Connections tool is a genogram that illustrates an individual's family members. This helps professionals to build a family tree, find family contact information and engage with family, supporters and children in foster care.The second tool, The People Search tool, uses public information from more than 300 sources and covers three billion people to expand the pool of potential caregivers."Using this technology is data sharing at its best to help find forever homes for kids in foster care. It's going to save children's services professionals time and resources," said Lt. Gov. Jon Husted. "Gone are the days of them having to map out family trees and contact information on their own. This technology does it for them, and then makes it widely available to other professionals."
