IMPHAL, Oct 26 : The 15th Senior Men, Junior Boys, Sub Junior Boys; the 13th Senior Women, Junior Girls, Sub Junior Girls and 2nd U-15 Boys and Girls State Wrestling Championship-2019 kicked off today at Multipurpose Hall, Khuman Lampak under the aegis of Manipur Wrestling Association.
The championship being participated by around 100 wrestlers, was inaugurated in the presence of A Nabachandra, Retd Director, Dept of Social Welfare; Y Budhachandra, former secretary, Manipur Olympic Association; W Chaobhal, president, Manipur Wrestling Association and N Nabadeep, treasurer, Manipur Wrestling Association as dignitaries.
The first day of the championship saw NSA win 4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals to take the pole position in the medal tally.
In the U-15 boys 48 kg free style event, Md Alikusan of NSA bagged the gold while his compatriot, Y Dingku won the silver besides Erak Promo and P Rishikumar winning bronze medals for the same unit.
Meanwhile in the 48 kg greco-roman event for the same age group, Th Korouhanba bagged the gold medal for NSA while his unit mates, Sh Bidyachandra Sharma and Chingkheinganba Heishnam bagged the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
In the 38 kg greco-roman event, M Jeson of NSA win the gold beating his compatriot L Jimkely in the final while MD Avinash of Heirok win the bronze medal.
Elsewhere in the 44 kg free style event, NSA's Irfan Alamkhan of NSA, Y Sanamatum and M Busion were able to claim the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
