NPO reaches most vulnerable in times of need

Government says since the outbreak of COVID-19 more than five million desperate people have been fed – all struggling to survive during the pandemic. But Statistics SA projects the economic impact will leave about 50 percent of the population at risk of being food insecure. So more still needs to be done. South Africa’s largest food redistribution charity, FoodForward SA has made its first distribution to the Limpopo province, the country’s poorest region. The organisation was able to distribute 21 tons of food to 20 vetted beneficiary organisations. FoodForward SA’s Managing Director, Andy Du Plessis speaks on this and provides a view on the real situation at ground level.
