Newington police adopt radio tracking technology for people with dementia, other cognitive disabilities

Project Lifesaver, a nationwide nonprofit organization, pairs radio technology with trained police officers to get a fix on a lost person. Clients wear a battery operated transmitter bracelet that emits a tracking signal every second, 24 hours a day. Transmitters are about the size of a quarter and each has its own frequency.
