New technology to help Gwinnett police investigate gun-related crimes
The Gwinnett County Police Department will soon begin using new technology to help reduce gun-related crimes.
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners recently approved purchasing Integrated Ballistic Identification System technology for the department.
Investigators will use the new technology’s 3D-enhanced imagery to compare images with shell casings found in a national database. Because everything will be done in-house, this will cut down on ballistics wait time, which can generally take several weeks to complete, according to the news release.
